About Kinsuisho

In 1895, we started brewing Japanese rice wine-sake- in Matsukawa-machi. Since that time, we had been brewing High quality sake. We have won 15 gold medals at the Annual Japan Sake Awards and in 2018 we won the gold medal at the International Wine Challenge (IWC).
Unfortunately, however, we suffered a great tragedy a couple of years ago. The 2022 Fukushima earthquake collapsed our breweries. It was no longer possible to continue brewing in this traditional location and we would normally have been faced with the decision to abandon the business. Nevertheless, we did not give up on brewing. Due to the fact that we were the only sake brewery in Fukushima City, the capital of Fukushima Prefecture, we had the mission not to shut down the capital’s sake. We then started to explore the construction of a new brewery within the capital of Fukushima Prefecture. As a consequence of our explorations, fortunately we acquired an area with an excellent water source. The water flowing through the area had been awarded the best water quality in Japan for 14 years running up to 2024.
So we constructed our new brewery in 2023, and we started brewing from the beginning of 2024. From this day forward, we have been reborn as the only sake brewery in the capital of Fukushima Prefecture that brews sake with the number one water in Japan.
